And just like that, cabin season comes to an ends. The place got very little use this year, thanks in large part to a stern warning from the arborists about the sad state of more than a dozen trees on the hillside above. Out came the checkbook, down came the trees, and we mostly let that play out while we spent our summer days elsewhere. Next year, I tell myself, I am going to spend a full week here.  And there’s a big family celebration being planned for July for the 100th anniversary of Rio Verde. Looking forward to being with cousins, aunts and uncles, some of whom I haven’t seen for years.
