Seeing the Boston Pops' Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular has long been on my bucket list, so I planned our road trip to put us back in Boston for July 4. What I didn't know at the time was that the Pops have a full rehearsal concert (except for the fireworks) the night before and, as someone next to us in line said, "there are only 100,000 people at the rehearsal, not the 500,000 who show up for the full performance." Guest performers were Brian Stokes Mitchell, Leslie Odom, Jr., Andy Grammer and Melissa Etheridge. So we went took in both shows - we went to the the rehearsal on the Esplanade on July 3, and then listened to the performance and watched the fireworks from across the Charles River on July 4.
