We joined Blockbuster on the day it opened in our neighborhood and had a two digit membership number (take that, all you three and four digit latecomers!) We went every week - sometimes multiple times. For years, there was rarely a visit when we didn't have to wait in line to make our purchases. Of course, that was before Netflix and other streaming services, before Redbox kiosks started popping up in every market, and before furloughs and layoffs took their toll on this community's disposable income. So Blockbuster's departure was inevitable, but still sad.
