Full disclosure: we hiked to the top of exactly none of the 46 peaks that make up the Adirondack Peaks, but enjoyed many of them during our drive and short walks along the river banks. It's the largest publicly protected park in the lower 48 states, but not an actual national park. Whatever its distinction, it's certainly a beautiful place and we had a great weekend exploring.
