It was my inaugural Supper Club outing, a venture filled with much anticipation. Our destination: Balsam Lake, where Jeff and JoAnn met us at Indianhead Lodge. Looking at the menu, my eyes locked on the rack of ribs, only to be disappointed by the waitress's news—they were out for the evening.

So I opted for a steak. As we neared the end of our meal, the waitress delivered dishes to the adjacent table. "Are those ribs?" I pointed. Lisa stood up and went to the next table, where she confirmed my suspicion—they were indeed. Lisa shared my story, and the guy even offered to share.

"Don't be Midwest nice. We're from California!" she replied and came back to our table - ribless.

We never did get an explanation why there were no ribs for me, but they magically appeared an hour later for another customer. Oh well, maybe next time I won't be shorted at the Supper Club.
