One of our favorite restaurants in Guerneville shut its doors a couple of years ago, but a new one moved in - branded as a "juke joint" - and we were anxious to try it. The entrees and side dishes were very good. I had ribs, Dad has catfish, and mom had chicken with sides of waffles, cajun slaw and brussel sprouts. We arrived early and even though the place was nearly empty, were scolded by the owner for not having a reservation. Seemed a bit over the top - but by the time we finished they were turning people away. We'll be back - and next time with a reservation.  (A juke joint, we learned, is an informal establishment featuring music, dancing, gambling, and drinking, primarily operated by African Americans in the south.)
