I'd had the Mission Inn gift certificate for nearly a year, but was waiting for a date when we could see the famous Festival of Lights that the hotel is known for. We arrived a little before sundown and settled into our beautiful room, grabbed some take-out food and enjoyed the lights - but only for a short while. Katie was exhausted from work and I was sick, so we both climbed into bed and slept for more hours than I could have imagined. Part of me felt like it was a waste to be there, but truthfully, it was so relaxing and the sheets so comfy that it was a real treat after a rough few weeks.
