Alameda is Spanish for “tree-lined avenue” L.A.’s Alameda Street was officially named in 1855. Like the city’s other early streets, it started near the old plaza and ran for a few blocks. It currently tops out at just over 20 miles.

I've always wanted to drive the full length, which begins a few blocks from my office and ends up at the Port of Los Angeles.

And today, we did it.
