We didn't know it at the time, but the week between Christmas and New Years marked the start of a series of relentless winter storms that hit Northern California. My drive up and back were on the worst weather days this week, but luckily we had a bit of dry time in between for walks in McKinley Park and catching up with friends. The days that followed have seen nonstop rain and strong winds in the Russian River and Sacramento areas. Marge and Tom, Tabby and Jay, and Emi and Danny have all been displaced temporarily with power outages and (in Marge and Tom's case) flood evacuation orders. As we watched this all play out from Southern California, Katie offered what was the happiest thought I've had in a long time: "Aren't you glad that you don't have to worry about Lakeshore?"
