Hudson Valley, New York

April 14, 2022

We've long talked about an East Coast trip together and made good on the plans wiht a couple of days in New York.

Today's adventure started with breakfast at Morningbird in the village of Kinderhook, home town of Martin Van Buren. We also learned that the phrase O.K. is derived from a campaign slogan of Van Buren's about Old Kinderhook. From there, we wandered around to the home of Washington Irving and the schoolhouse of the character of Ichabod Crane and the Legend of Sleepy Holly.

After wandering around the whale-themed city of Hudson, (and met a friendly resident enjoying his pre-noon wine), followed by lunch in Rhinebeck where we sat at the table where Franklin Rooselvelt "often sat."

The afternoon included stops in Kingston and Woodstock, before heading back to Albany for the night.
