Santa Barbara and Oxnard, California
Lisa and I
made a daytrip to Montecito and Santa Barbara, where we had morning
coffee and election-themed cookies, and then took a walk on the pier and
a visit to the mission. But the quirky part of the trip was learning the story of Santa Claus Lane, an exit from Highway 101. For years, it was a Christmas themed street, with a giant Santa (and Frosty) on the rooftops of a juice stand and other stores. Wear and tear took it's toll and in 2002, the 18-foot Santa came down and was moved to a park in Nyeland Acres, near Oxnard. (And yes, we stopped to find it.) |
