Bangkok, Thailand

IconSiam, the new shopping complex on the banks of the Chao Phraya, is
pretty dazzling. It opened about a year ago, and boasts distinctive
architecture. Like the world's longest pleated glass facade representing
traditional krathongs (symbols of Thai values that look like blooming
flowers).
Inside are many high-end shops including Thailand's
only Apple Store (that's one of the reasons we came today - to get a new
iPad cover for Aunt Judy). On the ground floor is SookSiam, a huge
market area to promote the arts, culture and foods of Thailand's
provinces, and outdoors, there's a River Park walkway with art
installations. We took a ferry across the river to get there (although you can drive across the bridge). But that wouldn't be nearly as much fun. Music at the Icon video |
