I remember coming to the Huntington Hotel a few times when I was growing
up. Boyd's mom played bridge here occasionally and, in the summer, we
tagged along and swam in the pool. I also remember picking up a family
friend who lived in one of the cottages behind the hotel and taking her
to church. After we dropped her off, Dad asked me to get the map from
under the passenger seat. "That's a Thomas Brothers map. And that was
MRS. Thomas." Today and tomorrow, the hotel - now called the Langham - it's the site of our Board's retreat. Why here? It's where the founding meeting of Metropolitan was held in the 1920s and seemed only fitting to gather here once again as we begin to plan for the organization's second century. |
